"By my reckoning, with more turbine traffic using many of California's
General Aviation airports, inexpensive and easily done FOD clean
up and control at the G.A. airports is an important "customer
service" activity. Who wants to use an airport where their expensive
turbine engine lunched on bolts, screws and nuts that routinely fall
off aircraft? FOD BOSS is a necessary airport management tool."
R. Austin Wiswell
Chief, Division of Aeronautics
Department of Transportation
State of California (2000-2005)
Last August at the Southwest Chapter of the
American Association of Airport Executives conference in San Diego,
I introduced the FOD*BOSS Rapid Response Sweeper to Austin Wiswell,
then Chief of the Division of Aeronautics for the State of California.
Mr. Wiswell realized the FOD*BOSS was a tool that other airport managers
should see and invited me to attend the next Association of California
Airports Conference.
At the ACA conference I spoke with Airport Managers about the FOD*BOSS,
inviting them to see a demonstration and enjoy some pizza and soft
drinks. Nearly 50 people came to observe the FOD*BOSS in action.
The folks there liked the way the FOD*BOSS picked up everything in
its path, moving faster than other sweeping methods allow. They were
also impressed that it was quiet, simple, and very easy to use. After
the demo was complete and the pizza devoured, I told them about our
TOUR*BOSS Program. We ship a FOD*BOSS to your facility for a week
or two of testing on your own pavement with your personnel. We pay
the freight each way - all you have to do is try it and discover
for yourself how operating your own FOD*BOSS sweepers will improve
safety and FOD prevention at your airfield. (And save time and money!)
Nine Airport Managers signed up for a TOUR*BOSS test on the spot.
Evaluation and testing is now under way in California. FOD*BOSS owners
already include the airports of Long Beach, Tracy, and Van Nuys.
(Incidentally, we have more than 2000 FOD*BOSS sweepers in daily
use at military and civilian facilities around the world.)
Redding Airport recently took advantage of the TourBoss Program
and operations manager Barry Bratton reported that the FOD*BOSS is
fast, silent, and needs no maintenance (or gas or oil). He noted
the fact that it picks up debris that other sweepers miss is a real
bonus. Mr. Bratton and his folks are very impressed with its performance.
Barry said if you would like to get his assessment of the FOD*BOSS,
give him a call. (530) 224-4321 or email bbratton@ci.redding.ca.us
And give us a call!
